The Toy
When the Charles Doepke Manufacturing Company introduced the UNIT 357 pressed steel toy crane in 1949, young operators were thrilled to have a toy that looked and worked like the real machine. With a little imagination and this toy, many hours could be spent in the backyard on large and important engineering projects. It is not surprising a number of crane operators received their early hands-on training in the "seat" of a Doepke UNIT crane.

The Model
In the same spirit, and with a tip of the hard hat to Doepke, we have created a unique "O" gauge (1:48 scale) model of the UNIT crane with a custom hoe attachment. Every part on the original pressed steel toy is hand crafted in brass at a reduced scale to create an incredible model that can fit in the palm of your hand.

Not only will our UNIT 614 Cable Hoe make an excellent addition to any collection of construction models or toys, it will "fit in" perfectly with other modern and vintage “O” gauge train layouts.
